Sơn Tùng M-TP returns to his old school
Singer Sơn Tùng M-TP was surrounded by hundreds of students when he visited the high school he used to study in his hometown.
The singer was touched when he returned to his old school for the second time after 10 years of singing, on October 24. In addition to interacting with teachers and students of Lê Quý Đôn High School, he also awarded study encouragement scholarships. He said: “Meeting the teachers, looking at the familiar scenery, I remember the mornings of saluting the flag in the past. At that time, I was as carefree and innocent as the students now.”
Sơn Tùng joked that he wanted to take a class to review his high school memories. He thanked his teachers for loving, teaching, and preparing his luggage for life. When asked to sing for his old school, the singer sang a cappella a part of “Em Của Ngày Hôm Qua” – a hit early in his career – to the cheers of hundreds of students. At the end of the session, when Sơn Tùng M-TP said goodbye, many viewers asked him to continue singing. He reminded the young people: “Remember, this life we only live once, so live it to the fullest as if tomorrow is the last day”.

The program is part of the series of activities “Dreams in the sky” – the project singers are pursuing to spread positive spirit to the community. On October 22, he visited Thụy An Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled (Ba Vi, Hanoi), exchanged, painted, knitted rattan baskets… with students. Sơn Tùng also went to Hồng Thái Kindergarten – Primary – Secondary School (Na Hang District, Tuyen Quang Province), visited students and volunteers, painted decorative paintings on the walls of the school.

At the end of the year, Sơn Tùng M-TP organizes a series of projects to celebrate a decade of working. He released an EP (short album) consisting of four songs, remixing two hits ” Cơn Mưa Ngang Qua và Nắng Ấm Xa Dần ” in pop-rock style. The Sky Tour documentary is also being released back into theaters. The work once reached 10,000 tickets after 48 hours of opening for sale in 2020 – a record with a musical documentary by a Vietnamese artist. The soundtrack also holds the top position in the iTunes and Apple Music Vietnam’s most listened album charts.
Sơn Tùng M-TP real name is Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, born in 1994 in Thai Binh. He fell in love with singing with the song “Cơn Mưa Ngang Qua” in August 2011. In 2012, he was the valedictorian of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, guided by musician Huy Tuấn. He made his mark through the hit series Lạc Trôi, Chúng Ta Không Thuộc Về Nhau, Hãy Trao Cho Anh … In 2015, the singer acted in the movie “Chàng Trai Năm Ấy” (directed by Quang Huy), which was successful with sales 60 billion dong.

He has won many awards such as: Outstanding Artist in Southeast Asia (MTV Europe Music Awards 2015), Single of the Year (Làn Sóng Xanh 2015), Singer of the Year (Dedication 2016), Favorite Singer (Làn Sóng Xanh 2016), the first Vietnamese singer to receive the YouTube gold button…
